For the shooting/warm-up drills Goalies should be wearing their mask (sport goggles are an option), jockstrap, and some sort of soft knee pad, not their shin pads. Gloves are optional.
Have shooter(s) start at 3/4 speed to allow goaltender to make sure they’re prepared to “FEEL” the weight of the soft ball.
IF it’s too much for a young goalie, these drills can done in full padding as well. **Please note that doing these drills without the gear is far more beneficial and will exponentially develop their ball-stopping and rebound directing skills.
*When making saves, use your body/limbs to direct the ball away from the front of the net. Feeling the weight of the ball helps enable you to do so.
“If you can see it, you can save it.”
